Julian McCleod Gets Another Go

Photo: Ben Grant

American DL Julian McCleod is staying in Toronto after signing a contract with the Argos through the 2022 season.

The 25-year-old McCleod was very raw coming out of Wagner College, but he showed flashes that obviously caught the attention of the coaches. He’s one of those players who don’t particularly stand out in drills, but it’s a different story during live sessions. He’s got more strength and explosiveness than you’d expect for his size and he’s hard to block cleanly.

The 6’3”, 285lb Florida native was signed to Toronto’s practice squad, but an injury early in the season kept him off the field for the rest of the year.

McCleod still has to be considered a long shot to make the active roster, but getting invited back is certainly a step in the right direction.
