Argos Hire Corey Mace as DC

On Thursday, the Toronto Argonauts officially announced that Corey Mace has been hired as the team's defensive coordinator for the 2022 season.

Keeping the position filled has been something of an issue this year, but the hiring of Mace should bring some stability. Glen Young started the season as Toronto's DC, but he was replaced midseason by Chris Jones, who has since moved on to Edmonton where he will serve as the team's head coach and general manaer.

Mace played in the CFL for six seasons and has spent the past five years coaching the defensive line for the Calgary Stampeders. During that span, Calgary led the league in sacks on three occasions while also leading the league in fewest rushing yards allowed in 2018, fewest points scored in 2017, and fewest touchdown allowed in 2016.

On top of being a great young coach, Corey Mace is also Canadian. He grew up in Vancouver before leaving to play NCAA ball for the Wyoming Cowboys.

On the hire, Toronto head coach Ryan Dinwiddie said, "Corey will bring a strong work ethic and a hunger to get better each day. He will provide great leadership for our football club and have a tremendous impact on and off the field."

As with many players and coaches on the current Toronto team, Mace spent several season with Dinwiddie in Calgary.
